Dan Gonzalez: Music
Bolder
(Dan Gonzalez)
I sit alone in the coffeeshop
With my Sunday paper
I like to seem like I’m busy reading
But I’ve come to join these people talking
These coffeeshop debaters
These are the voices of the city
We come in droves and drink our mochas
All the while we sit and groan
About the world and all that matters most to us
But that’s not good enough
We can be thinkers
We can be bolder
We can do better than we’ve done so far
When Sunday goes the weekend’s lost
In drips of words and coffee
On tips of tongues, in the boundaries of our passions
No one knows what these hours might cost
In the fight for all that ought to be
Cause the world moves on despite our own inactions
The sun will rise on another morning
These streets will teem with passersby
We’ll be fine and the day will seem normal
But that’s the curse of idle minds
We can be thinkers
We can be bolder
We can do better than we’ve done so far
Join the man with a sign
Or those people walking a protest line
Become one of the organized and mobilized and fortified
We can be thinkers
We can be bolder
We can do better than we’ve done so far
I sit alone in the coffeeshop
With my Sunday paper
