Dan Gonzalez: Music
Where's Woodstock
(copyright 2002 Dan Gonzalez)
Mother drives the SUV
Backseat full of groceries
Bumper flies the US flag
Side by side with the Pro-Life ad
United we stand means do what you can to see that I'm safe
She will agree as long as it's peace we're fighting to make
Where's Woodstock when we need it
Daughter wants her MTV
Full of sex and nudity
She turns it on and sings along
To the latest number one song
The music is good if it's misunderstood by most of us
But we can't complain cause we share the blame for holding our tongues
Where's Woodstock when we need it
The baby-boomers made their mark on history
By making sure the world knew just what they believed
The conscience of the people shone right through
They took a chance by taking a stand on American values
Father reads his New York Times
One more corporate stock price dives
He folds his paper and sighs relief
He sold his share just last week
The world is okay as long as we're paid what we deserve
American dreams are something obscene to the rest of the world
Where's Woodstock when we need it
